Yi Cheng Hero 329 Galloping Horse Fountain Pen

This week let us take a look at the famous contemporary painters of China Xiu Bei Hong

The Advent of the 20th century ushered in a period of ¡° A hundred flowers blossom¡± as far as China¡¯s art scene was concerned. While some painters adhered to and carried forward traditional ways, others absorbed nutrition from all quarters and explored new ways.

Among them is Xiu Beihong, who applied western techniques in Chinese painting. Xiu BeiHong (1895-1953) was a native of Yixing, jiangsu. His father, Xu Dazhang, was a self educated professional painter and his son¡¯s first art teacher. When he was a boy, Xiu Beihong copied pictures in Jie Zi Yuan History of Painting, a set of books on the art of painting and admired Ren Bonian, a painter of great fame in the late Qing Dynasty. In 1919, Xiu went to France, where he learned western painting at Paris National Academy of Fine Arts. Later, he toured Germany, Belgiuml Switzerland and Italy to observed western art.

Here we see the Gallopong Horse (Ben Ma Lu) by Xiu Beihong,, on paper ink and wash kept in the Xiu Beihong museum in Beijing. We at Yi Cheng Trading pay tribute to this great chinese artiste by recreating the horse handpainted on this Hero 329 Fountain Pen.
