Hero 75 Cross Hatched Cisele Fountain Pen

There are two established standards of industrial design 每 forma nd function. The Parker Pen Company has successfully blended these in the Model 75 which has been in production continuously since 1963.

The original design for the Parker 75 was a deep cut, cross-hatch pattern in sterling silver, and no doubt the popularity of this finish impacted its longevity since it is still offered in Parker*s line today. Sterling Silver was chosen for the first Model 75 because it has softness, a resiliency, which has appealed to pen lovers for almost 100 years.

Many collectors claim that they can quickly identify a sterling silver pen 每 blindfolded 每 when given several metal jacket pens to hold. Since the metal is soft, it is easy to work. As a result, pen makers have used this substance and their design ingenuity to create many surface patterns and textures to make visually appealing pens that are pleasing to the touch.

The unique engraved cross-hatch exterior of the Parker 75 was inspired by the work of a London silversmith who, many years ago, executed a similar design on a sterling silver cigarette case. With the passage of time, and as sterling silver is likely to do, the case took on a delicate patina 每 and antiqued effect of quiet elegance. This surface design had an additional effect. Though the many years of almost continuous use, the sterling silver case shoed little sign of customary scratching and nicking which sterling accountrements usually display. This deep-etched cross hatched pattern that had so successfully withstood the punishment of time and use thus became the standard for Parker craftsmen who developed this pattern for the Parker 75 and many clones to follow.

Last week on our Yi Cheng Trading yearly Fountain pen search in Canton, China, we came to a rundown pen factory that started pen production since the communist era of 1965. We uncovered a few surprises in their pen vault. The crosshatched 75 design clone was found to be reengineered by Chinese pen makers. Instead of having the cross hatched desgin with the interior lines in black, this clone has the reverse 每 the lines are white and the surface black. I have a feeling that it is easier to fabricate in this manner and risk infringement on Parker*s copyright!

One joke I was told about this pen which is made in 1969 每 with a monthly income of less than US$5 during that communist period of 1960s , this pen producer is doing a great favor to satisfy china pen lovers who could not afford the luxury of a Parker Fountain Pen. What do you call someone who helps the poor pen lovers? HERO, hence the name of the famous company.

This Cisele Fountain pen is in perfect mint condition and uninked . It measures slightly longer than the 75 at 13.5cm and thickness 0.8cm. It comes fitted with a gold plated medium nib and a similar aeromatic pump that is found in the 75.

Last week we introduced the slimfold for redemption and was quickly out and we have to turn away 100 disappointed pen collectors. This week we are giving away 5 of these crosshatched pen and hurry or it was be gone. Only 5 of these rare pens and once gone, you will not be able to see it for a long time. Parker 75 Collectors, here is a good chance to get this seldom seen clone.

US$40
